HAM REPEATER OWNERS, Network Sysops or cBridge
administrators:
If you have a TRBO repeater (any band) located in the
United States and wish to
link up, then you are in the
right place. We look forward to connections via
our cBridge and especially if you have a cBridge also,
then let's explore linking without the need of a
detailed affiliation process.
Email us if interested. We have open ports for
testing, short-term, long-term, conventions, hamfests,
nets or drills or simply just to play and learn TRBO.
HAM REPEATER OWNERS:
If you have an operating, in-service TRBO repeater (any band) located in the
United States and wish to explore
affiliating with our IPSC network, then you are in the
right place.
Emphasis is placed on repeaters that
have a serviceable coverage area and a user base due to
a finate number of repeaters that can be operated on a
single IPSC network. We would hope that prospective new
member repeaters would fit in with our style of Ham
radio. You might look through the
user info to get
a better idea of our method of operation and security
implementation. As a repeater owner, you have more
freedom than a user but at this point, it's proprietary.
We expect (require actually, in as
much as we can) our repeater owners to
participate on the network and in Email. We are
not looking for another box that simply sits on the
network with no activity like most analog repeaters seem
to do now a days. Slots on the network or on the
cBridge are finite
and we desire your repeater to contribute to the
network. We want to explore TRBO as well
as develop and improve the network. We want to
learn and experiment. A repeater owner is expected to stay
in touch and maintain their repeaters so as to stay
current with firmware upgrades and the overall network
settings as determined on an ongoing basis.
This is important stuff.
An IPSC network has a practical limit
on the number of repeaters (and other clients) that it
can support effectively. cBridge to cBridge
connections are the preferred method to connect IPSC
networks. Any
new affiliations are expected to be more than someone's
short term pet repeater project on the kitchen table with a single user and
a service area of a few blocks. If you just are looking for a home
for your TRBO repeater without setting aside some energy
and time, maybe we are not for you. While we all
have time constraints, we want you to know that we do
have this emphasis and it is something you should
consider; your personal commitment, as you weigh your
desire to join the TRBO-6. It is likely that you
will have some fun and meet
some friendly hams also. :-) But it is an
on-going commitment.
Having said the above and set a tone
for a commitment, we can provide you a connection on our
cBridge that doesn't require the commitment
up-front and on-going. We have a temporary port
that is available for demonstrations, showcasing or
simply short temp connections for whatever purpose.
So if you have a network or a single repeater, this
might be an easier approach before considering a longer
range commitment. This very much simplifies
affiliations on an IPSC network and we highly recommend
this approach first with you need for any commitment on
anyone's part. If interested, just send us an
Email advising of your interest and maybe just a
little about yourself and your repeater or network.
Please check out the information at our
Yahoo Group TRBO-6 repeater affiliation
page. If you then wish to go forward and
explore
repeater affiliation, click on the request to join
button.
Yahoo will send you a Robo-mail, which will further explain your role and
our collective role in considering a new affiliating
repeater. You will be requested to answer some
questions about yourself, your repeater, your user
base and longer range plans for your repeater.
Your repeater must use Time Slot 1 for IPSC network
traffic. Time Slot 2 will be for your local only
use. When you Email it back to us, please use your normal Email address,
not Yahoo's as those addresses we have found are
somewhat undependable. Our back-up
Email is:
trbo-6-Core@trbo.info
if Yahoo fails.
If you don't hear from any of the
current TRBO-6 repeater owners within a day or so, please write to us using a
good address and directly to our back-up address.
In the past, personal Yahoo Email addresses have been
troublesome in getting back to you. When we get
the initial Email, someone from TRBO-6 will respond ASAP
just to confirm we have the request and are awaiting
your information if we have not already received it.
You should never wait more than a day to hear from us. |
